Hello everyone! My name is Tin, and I am a chiropractor at Life Force Chiropractic.
I have recently started to notice [swollen legs]. So, let us consider swelling!
Swelling can occur when blood circulation is poor. ← It is not the only cause. Blood circulates throughout the body. Since the legs are located below the heart, blood must defy gravity and return to the heart, which is said to normally return to the heart through the pumping action (contraction and expansion) of the calves and other parts of the body. However, if you are standing or sitting still, the muscle pump does not work and blood circulation in the legs is compromised. As a result, blood stagnates in the legs, leading to swelling. So stretch your calf muscles to improve calf pump function and blood circulation.
I'm sure you all know this, Do some easy towel stretches while lying down!
Lie on your back and place the towel over the base of your toes, pulling the towel slowly. Stretch your calves. Do the opposite leg in the same manner. (20 seconds x 3 sets) about! You can feel the blood circulating slowly!
