The history and characteristics of chiropractic

Hello everyone! This is Shun from Lifeforce Chiropractic.

Please take care of yourself during this rainy season when the weather is not good every day and the days are hot with high humidity.

In this article, I will discuss the history and characteristics of chiropractic as well as the differences between chiropractic and osteopathy. First of all, chiropractic and osteopathy are both techniques that originated in the U.S., and both are concepts that originated in Japan. Chiropractic care aims to correct the spine and pelvis to find the cause of the distortion of the body and to restore the body's normal function by returning it to the correct position. Chiropractic care relieves pain and looseness. Chiropractic care originated in the U.S. Some Japanese may be surprised to learn that osteopathy and chiropractic care are the same thing, but there are some differences if you look at the details.

Chiropractic is a manual therapy that began in the United States in 1895 and has since developed into an academic discipline, with specialized universities established in many countries and education provided in university medical schools. It is recognized as a national certification in many countries and is covered by medical insurance in some countries.

Chiropractic focuses on the structure (especially the spine) and function of the body, correcting the spine and other areas of the body to improve posture, reduce pain, enhance function, and promote natural healing. Different practitioners use different techniques in this treatment.

Another reason for focusing specifically on the spine is that the spinal cord, the nerve center, is protected by the spine, so problems with the spine can affect nerve function. Chiropractic is positioned as health care that restores body function through manual skeletal correction and promotes health by harnessing people's natural healing abilities.

Chiropractic care is especially effective for musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, headaches, whiplash, stiff shoulders, and hip and knee pain.

It is also widely used to relieve fatigue, improve posture, autonomic imbalance, organ function, stress, and daily health care for the elderly. However, cancer, bleeding disorders, diseases with high fever, and contagious diseases are contraindicated, as these may indirectly cause back pain and stiff shoulders, and if suspected, the patient should be referred to a specialized medical facility as soon as possible.

In my personal opinion, as a chiropractic clinician for more than 20 years, I believe that helping patients improve their daily lives (e.g., increasing exercise, taking time to rest, reviewing daily body use and diet, etc.) can also contribute to the relief of headaches, numbness in the hands and feet, and other symptoms that are difficult to describe. We believe that this can also help alleviate headaches, numbness in limbs, and other symptoms that are difficult to describe.

When correcting a joint, especially the spine or pelvis, a "cracking" sound may be heard. This sound is caused by the release of nitrogen gas inside the joint, and is evidence that the gap between the joints has widened momentarily when the nerves in the joints are stimulated or when movement is improved. This phenomenon is similar to the sound that is made when air accumulates in a bath tub submerged in hot water and is released to the surface.

Many athletes such as Ryukyu Golden Kings players, Ryukyu Corazon, professional baseball players, and Okinawan baseball players have visited our clinic, and internationally, Usain Bolt of track and field, Tiger Woods of golf, and Hideki Matsui, a former major leaguer, have used chiropractic care when they were active, They are world-class players. In the U.S. Major League Baseball, there is a chiropractor for every team.

Studies in the U.S. have shown that after chiropractic care, performance increases by 20% compared to when the patient is not corrected.
