This time of year is "spring" and every February the Okinawa Spring Camp of the Japanese professional baseball team is held in Okinawa! This year will be my 8th year as a Carp fan!
Continuing from last year, this year the Hiroshima Toyo Carp had their spring training camp at Koza Shinkin Stadium in Okinawa City from the latter half of February! I only had an hour to watch practice before work, so I went to watch every morning and twice on my days off from work! That's how much I love the Carp!
The good thing about spring camp is that you are close to the players and can hear their voices, which you usually cannot hear on TV! Especially the voices, you get a different impression of the players in a good way, such as "this player has a voice like this" or "this player makes a lot of jokes", and you get to know their true colors and personalities! I am glad that I was able to feel this a lot this year!
The first was when I went to Mihama with my friends on a Carp vacation, I happened to see Carp players Kemuna, Turley, and Anderson walking in Mihama, and they immediately ran up to me and took a picture with me! He was a very nice guy! He was a very nice guy and a Godsend! The next day I went to watch practice and Turley said to me, "We met yesterday! I was so happy that he remembered me! Second, Abe, a former Carp player who retired after last season and who is my favorite player, happened to be a guest commentator on the TV station, and I was able to see him up close. After the commentary, he responded to fans and signed his uniform! I was very happy to get an autograph from a player that I had always been pushing for, even though he had retired since I couldn't get an autograph when I was a player! I was able to enjoy the Carp's spring training camp a lot this year!
This year, we will deliver enthusiastic cheers in anticipation of a league championship and Japan's No.1! Chibariyo~! Hiroshima Toyo Carp!
